Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I hear that you are in alot of pain.
I had a drinking thought at 5 years and it really spooked me as, like what you seem to share, I had had the obsession to drink removed by my HP too. What it made me get on and do was to get a new sponsor as I realised that something was astray in my recovery although I did not mentally feel it. 'Cunning baffling and powerful' is what this disease is.
It is good you are getting to the places you need to get to and life seems pretty tough. I also thought how you may not even be alive if you did not have your recovery so read your gratitude too.
Thanks for your share, we are indeed lucky to have got the program :)
Hope you find some peace today.
being in recovery while suffering from agoraphobia must be very challenging. i'm glad you were able to take advantage of online meetings.
There are several ladies who are members of this group who have had to take strong medication to deal with pain, I medical problems and who face tough challenges, they have long term sobriety. They inspire me and show me that staying sober and finding a way to make the most of life no matter what is possible.
I believe what m8bear says is true - if I am tempted to think a drink is a solution to anything at all I need to look for what is astray in my recovery.
I also believe what the Big Book says on these matters - and I paraphrase here - we are not saints, we seek spiritual progress, not perfection. I know I can never outgrow a spiritual path but my progress can't stand still either. Needless to say I do a lot of inventory and I have much to appreciate that is good.
Sending you empathy and prayers for God to show you the way forward.
