I don't know why...but seeing my alcohol free time in days like that...TRIPS ME out. Sounds much more impressive than 15 months.

Then, I do the math and find out that I have saved AT LEAST $7,500 by not drinking all those days...and actually, probably closer to $10,000 and THAT REALLY trips me out.

I wish I had all that money now...but you know what?...if that is the cost of my sobriety today...and my clear headed, serene, thinking...then it is WELL worth it.

How much have you saved by not drinking??? Rough guestimates are cools, as if you are like me...you have NO clue how much you actually drank some days. lol.

HOLYCRAP!! That is amazing when ya look at it that way huh? DAAAANG!!

I didn't drink in bars the last 5 or 6 years, which is way more expensive. I drank at home mostly, but I estimated in the 137 days I've been sober, I've saved roughly $2000!!

Did I say HOLYCRAP!! and DAAAAAANG???!!!!

151 days sober so I am estimating I have saved $1510.. easy. But the other amazing side effect is that I am aware of my overspending on shoes and clothes, impulse shopping. I have drastically cut back and know exactly how much money I am spending. I haven't known that in years! That blows me away even more than the not drinking as that has been a really out of control thing thing.

I spent between $1,500 and $2,000 a month on bars and drinking. I've been sober 14 1/2 years now. That's a lot of money, but not a lot of savings. lol Unfortunately, for many years the money went into my shopping addiction and personal entertainment. I tried to mood alter without alcohol for a long, long time. Today it's different, but it wasn't always so. Recovery is a process, not an event.

I just started but was just talking about this to my son today. Let's see Half a gallon for the weekend, let's say 2 fifths during the week. Liter bottle of wine. Plus a night out at the bar. Not ALL of that was me my husband helped, friends. But if I'm not buying they can buy it themselves. So 60 to 100 a week.

Been sober for fourteen months... My best guess is around 8-9 thousand....... probably more.....
