Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I have made it thrugh 5 days and I feel great!!
Good week....Had to have dinner with my boss from out of town (he's likes his wine" and had a lovely time drinking tea...I am so much more interesting when I DONT drink:-) No wrries the next day...Did i say anything I should not have?? No stress...will I drink too much (of course I will)...will I be Ok to drive?? Probally not but I will anyhow
Its like god lifted a dark blanket off my head...I am much more releaxed, I sleep all night and less stressed out. It takes alot of work to be an alcoholic...where to get my bottle, will I have enough, rush rush rush thru everything just so I could start drinking....Don't talk to anyone...intrupts my drinking time....The guilt the next day...what did I not do I was supposed to, what have I forgetten I said to my grown sons,
do I have any food in the house, did I take a shower, do I need more booze...of course I do... not don't want to be short.....go get more and start all over again, and again and again.. The worst was looking in the mirror " Who is that" Oh yea" thats me!
Matted hair, still in pj's, red, bloated face...Thinking I am killing my self and will die from this..
The guilt and fear has subsided
Still one day at a time...But I never want to go there again

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Yes can totally relate. Not only are we more interesting when we don't drink, we are more INTERESTED. At least that's what I've found! I'm actually interested in what friends and family are saying. Go figure.
Good luck and what is your plan? What is your program to stay sober?
I remember all that and more -- I'll just have a little sip, just a sip and that will be enough. Well maybe another one. It's been three minutes since my last sip, just a bit more. Oh hell, what's the big deal with having a real drink. I'll just drink enough to "fall asleep" for a bit then get up and take care of the house, etc.
Great job on 5 days -- a real accomplishment! Keep it going!
Its a good thing that you realize you have a problem. Congratulations on your revelation. What we need to realize is that you have a disease. Left untreated you are likely to drink again. Thats just what alcoholics do. I suggest that you try what has worked for so many of us here on D/S. That would be to attend some meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous. This disease is so much more than just not drinking. Its the way we think and the way we live. By not drinking you are treating the symptom and not the disease. We find that this disease is too much for us and we need to find a solution. I found my solution in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous. There you will meet women just like you and they will share you how they did it.The way this program of AA works is by one alcoholic helping another alcoholic. Again congratulations on admitting to yourself that you are alcoholic. Your journey into a life of sobriety has just begun. My prayers are with you. Greg
