Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I was looking back on 2012 and I am SO blessed!! I if I am honest with myself, it is only because of AA that I was able to face everything sober and to accomplish so much!!
Last year I....
- got accepted into a small social work program at the local university (and made 3 A's and B, my first semester as a junior :)) Only because the women in AA wrote me recomendations and helped me every single step of the way!!
- found out my mother had breast. WHat was amazing was, I didn't think about drinking, and I didn't have to face any of it alone. I had an amazing network of women who were there to help me!! ( and being a "loner" by nature, that was amazing)
- found out my mother is now cancer free :)
- Got to become closer to my mother and realize what really mattered!! Just havign her!!
- I got a new job, in the socail work field! ( I had been a server for years!)
- I got to go fishing and camping multiple times with awesome women and created some GREAT memories
Ok, I could go on and on, but all of this because I was sober! Because of AA!! It can happen for anyone! It may not look the same as my story, or life but dreams can come true when you stop drinking!! AA is not the only way! For me it was what saved my life and gave me such an amazing life!! I am so blessed and grateful!!
Ok, I'll stop now, I just wish everyone knew how amazing it can be to be sober and have the support of AA!!
I may not feel like this every single day, but everyday I try to write out my gratitude list and usually it's not too hard :)

It's fantastic how AA's can rally around each other when things are great and not so great. This doesn't come randomly either. You certainly have put in some work and have kept open the doors of acceptance and fellowship and love out there so that others may come into your life. We reap what we sow, and boy, have you reaped the benefits of this program.

I love my life today and I have heaps of gratitude to AA and my AA friends too.
A happy sobriety takes work and commitment, through the good times and bad, you've put in the work and the dividends are showing

Reminds me of that song Amazing Grace. Every single alcoholic who is sober -- to me -- is a miracle. We've been granted amazing grace. I have no idea why...no idea why some people "get" it and other struggle to their deaths....
We should all be grateful imo.

It's great to hear your Mum is better and that you two are enjoying are your closeness.
I can fill pages with gratitude for AA and how my friends in fellowship have helped to bring about change in my life too.
Fun things like sober parties, meals out together, being there in the bad times - rallying round when someone is having difficulties to deal with - I wouldn't swap that for anything.
Two of my favourite promises in the Big Book: "And we have ceased fighting anything or anyone-even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned."

Gratitude would be my religion if I had one. I look forward to this year with expectation and the knowledge that living is a natural thing, dying too. We are all in this together. It's fascinating. I know it will be rewarding as long as I keep choosing to keep walking with eyes open.
I had a big year for family in some respects. My brother got married, my first nephew was christened and my first niece was born. My dad was very ill and had open heart surgery, he is now doing well. And all the way through it I was able to be there and play my part without one single thought of a drink.
Like you say so much to be grateful for an the more I remember that the easier life is.
