Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
It took me almost 6 months before I would talk. Most of that time was spent trying to figure out if I could really trust them.
I liked going to the meetings with low level drunks-dumpy meeting halls without the pretentious stuff. Sheez, I was pissing on the floor of the ER running around naked a week prior. At that point. I didn't need a place where I had to try and look great and compete with others. I was in hell, needed people who knew and could talk about this hell.
Keep searching for a fit. You will get talking-the time will just "feel" right. DOn't push it, just listen and learn. And get some numbers from women after the meeting-make a friend who has been there awhile. She will for sure introduce you to others if you ask. AA people (lots atleast) love people like you-smart and ready to learn.
And you are right, hopefully they can find something they relate to too...and the speaker, you could tell was just trying to reach out to them too...He was a good speaker and I did relate to him some...
I am going to go back next week...i have two days covered now, Tue mornings and Friday nights now....maybe I ll add one more to the mix tomorrow night....slowly but steady :)
Thanks for all your support Jim
