Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I guess my question is, why if you only got out of hand twice in 6 months why are you even here?
By some measures only 5% of people coming into AA stay sober forever. So keep coming.
I will say people that are asking questions like you are have some type of problem.
People that doesn't have some type of issue with drinking simply don't ask questions that your bring up.
I went in and out of AA for 4 years - sobering up - drinking again - but I kept going back and it finally took.
Progress rather than perfection is what we need to keep in mind. Keep trying hon - you can do this and you are not being hypocritical by continuing to show up at meetings. Not at all.
If I had been sponsoring you and you continued to drink, I would tell you that I could not help you whilst you were quite happy drinking, I might question whether you are an alcoholic or not.
What would you want a sponsor for? Their job is to take you through the 12 steps, which it appears you haven't done.
I think it's a case of p**s or get off the pot. Do you want to quit drinking permanently? If yes, you're welcome in AA - get a sponsor and work the Steps - or choose one of the other methods of recovery that other people use.
If no, just carry on drinking periodically - or whenever you want to. Easy Peasy!!
If that helps you in maintaining a healthy level of consumption and not abuse alcohol, you and all the world will be better for it. It it mean coming into this room to post, then I'm find with that to.
As we like to say in AA, identify but don't compare. Who am I to suggest that you can't come in here?
:)
Go to open meetings if you are not alcoholic, you are always welcome at those. Closed meetings are for alcoholics only.
