Hi All.
I would like to celebrate my 17 years of sobriety with you today. SD 27/8/1991.
When I was in rehab 17 years ago a psychiatrist said to me Lionel some people can get this first go. (Sobriety) I think he was telling me I better because I don't think I had to much time left. I was bankrupt in all areas of my life. Physically .Mentally and Emotionally.
And through a loving God I try to understand . AA and lots of work on myself. (God can move mountains I was told but bring a shovel . I have been able to stay stopped for 17 years now.
And for me it's been a day at a time and in the being 1 minute 1 hour at a time. And for a long time now I have been in my dreams awake . Living life. (Not just surviving) and doing things I would once only dream of before alcohol would dissolved them.
I only posted this to show it is possible to stay stopped. And if a hopeless drunk like I was can do it so can others.
So thank you to all my friends on DS and the friends I haven't met as yet.
