Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I like to think that there are no mistakes in this life what we do and where we go leads us to where we need to be.
Good luck and God bless
Is some of this time 2nd or 3rd stage treatment??
I am a committed Christian but I don't think I would have wanted to go to a religious institution in order to get sober. Just because the program is long, it doesn't mean that it is more effective than others.
I can't wait to see what you find out and what you decide.
Ignore them as you wish but it comes from a caring perspective:
"I go to AA,have sponsor,but still struggle."
Have you gone through the 12 Step programme and done all the work required?
In AA it is only possible to find the solution through a spiritual awakening as a result of the Steps, if you are alcoholic. Not through meetings, not through sponsors.
"I been to rehab before and after rehab I went back to my old thinking...It did not changed me internally."
Me too, when I came out of rehab I was drinking again within a short time.
Although it saved me from myself for a while I still had to come out and live in the real world - the facility affiliated itself to the 12 Steps and its directive was to go to AA and finish the programme.
Is there an after care policy at this facility?
"I'm considering the time...it is longtime,but...I have lots of baggage from the past. What is one year forgetting clear sober head.I'm not interested in another short term sobriety."
You will get 12 -14 months straight through not drinking - if they keep tabs on your freedom. Then it's up to you.
Do you consider whether or not you might feel a bit institutionalised by the time you come out?
I was sent to a very strict boarding school for a couple of years - i.e. twice as long but I could go home for school holidays inbetween.
I remember running a bit wild every time I went home for the holidays.
Not good for an alcoholic, recovered or not, if that's the way you might feel when you come out. You may not of course, but please consider the possibility.
