Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I made a decision to get some help. I googled alcoholism and this site popped up. I remember having a moment of thoughts like I’m going to die if I don’t make a few changes. Somehow after a prodigious bender I left the house and was thinking of A) running my car into a bridge abutment OR B) this voice in my head said go to AA.
I drove around all day and couldn’t get up the courage to kill myself so I called the hotline and they said there a meeting at a church just around the corner at 8pm.
I had sat in the parking lot of a meeting before and watched the people come out, they were smiling and all them looked very happy I decided to go in... on the way down the hall there was a small chapel and I was scared and so I went in there to kill some time I remember a large stained glass window and I looked up and said
“I need a little help”
I don’t remember a thing in the meeting other than I was sweating like a pig and the seats were so close my knees were almost touching the row in front, also the guy leading the meeting had a ring with a skull
I made it thru the rest of the day and somehow managed to get back the next night
This year has been the toughest year by far, I lost a business, and have struggled with my mental health, but, somehow I have realized that climbing back into the bottle is not the way to solve anything Alcohol IS a DRUG I’ve been on opiates and honestly alcohol is harder to quit than anything ( when I quit the pills, the drinking went thru the roof ) Alcohol IS very tricky, because it does make life go away, but the fact is I needed more and more over time to get the same effect
my last day I drank 15 beers, and around 12 shots I was so fucked up that I couldn’t hold my head up the sad part was my poor wife was sitting next to me and when I woke up each time from passing out, I would cuss her out like it was her fault
Today I just do a couple of things. I admit I’m an Alcoholic. I do not get too far down the road of thinking about it and what it would be like. I focus on what I do have. Beautiful family, home, car. Job.
Life is better, sometimes it is hard but things pass and get better, I promise.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I find that my habit was to personalize every single thing that happened in life as a projection of who I was. So not true. If my truck breaks down I’m not a failure lol. Just an inconvenience that I have to deal with. Now how I deal with it IS who I am. Are you exercising and eating healthy? Water intake? Take care of yourself and be proud that you matured so much that you know to stay sober.
