Alcohol Recovery Without 12 Steps Community Group
This group was created to explore various recovery paths for Alcoholism. We generally chose to explore paths outside of the AA model, or ones which incorporate, but are not limited to AA. Anyone wanting to learn and explore how to become free from alcohol addiction are welcome. Our main goal is to support each other with compassion and decency, while remaining open minded...

I feel so GOOD in the mornings when I don't drink the night before! This alone is good reason to stay sober, and there are still so many other reasons. It's hard to believe how difficult it can be; but I guess that is the nature of the beast. Inevitably, there is a 2 or 3 hour window in the evening that I want to drink, and it's a struggle to fight it off. But I've been keeping active; and I'm reminding myself of all the good things. It's working.
I worry about my health when I drink, because when I drink, it's excessive. I know how healthy it is for me that I quit. I wish thumper could be a little more helpful, but I know my heart appreciates it; and sponge-bob-liver too.
I get more done! I'm not so blearry eyed that I can't read, or so drunk that I can't concentrate. It just sounds so silly to say it aloud, that I find it rediculous that it's so hard to quit. It should be easy, but it isn't.
Add what you like best about staying sober... even if it's redundant, because it's still reinforcing.

I love being so productive in the morning when i don't drink the night before. I can't believe what I can get accompished. I even exercise in the morning with my Wii games. On the nights I drink, I barely feel like getting ready for work...nevermind going to work! I've made my negative/positive lists out many time but just can't seem to catch on this time. Alcohol is so evil....plays such games with your head. I'm working on it and hoping that it'll come to be again soon.

I am now realising how much I missed out in the morning by being hungover and unproductive, I am up early in the morning and love the feeling of being alive in the mornings instead of being half dead, and agree Laney 1 alcohol is so evil it grabs hold of you,

I remember how simply amazing it was to be able to jump in my car and go at anytime (without the fear of yet another DUI, of course)! What freedom!

Jan...I also have had a DUI. You would think it would be quite the deterrent. That's how much power alcohol has. You forget how bad the bad times were. If only I can keep those in my head at all times I could be free of alcohol forever.

I like the part where I don't feel like a subhuman creep!

Went to a counselor yesterday! Feeling pretty sad today.... opens up a lot of stuff when you go talk about it. So, I am thankful to NOT be hungover, but wish all the issues would not be occupying so much space in my head!

I love remembering what I did the night before...what I ate for dinner, what time I went to bed, who I spoke to on the phone. I love remembering life

Good one, Rick! I love remembering life to and also experiencing it -- all it's ups and even the downs and being present for all of it!
