Agoraphobia & Social Anxiety Support Group
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder, often precipitated by the fear of having a panic attack in a setting from which there is no easy means of escape. As a result, sufferers of agoraphobia may avoid public and/or unfamiliar places. In severe cases, the sufferer may become confined to their home, experiencing difficulty traveling from this "safe place."

Hi friends,
I struggle with chronic anxiety and panic disorder. I have monophobia, which is the fear of being alone. I am pretty ok when I am home alone but alone while traveling (flight and hotel rooms) I really struggle alot. During my fight or flight, no matter how many techniques I use, I have to call or talk to someone during this attack. I have trouble just sitting with it. Do you guys know of any 24 hour hotlines to call during an attack? The reason I ask is because I have another work trip coming up and I experience anxiety usually when I am in my room at night. I can't always call friends or family but I need to be able to talk to someone to feel better.
Anyone else have similar issues like this?
Thank you,
Melis

Now that I am not talking to my whatever best friend, I realized that her life is full of drama. I had grown tired of hearing her stories about her boyfriend many months ago. She basically had been monopolizing conversations for that long too. She pretty much stopped asking me questions about me. I passed her in front of her classroom the other day and didn't even look at her. I am...

Does anyone here have a comfort item you carry with you when you go out? For example this is my doll, Annie, and I've recently been bringing her with me when I run errrands flor have an appointment. Holding her comforts me. I've bought her clothes, crocheted for her, I recently bought a personalized blanket with her name on it. Just wondering if anyone else has a comfort item.

I feel all alone in a big box, in a strange "not my home" location. The smells and sounds are different and it takes a while to settle down into that atmosphere.
I have personally reached out to the following prayer line many times. They don't try to change your religious viewpoint but listen and pray with and comfort one. It is Christian so forgive me if this doesn't fit for you. The unity website has a lot of written resources, too.

What about listening to something like a podcast or recorded radio shows? I like to listen to coast to coast am on the app (costs a little bit of money) when I am feeling overly sad, lonely, too tired to sleep, or just want my mind to shut down. Because the radio shows are unusual topics which engages my brain. Some people like audio books. There is also the Calm app which might be helpful if you can just listen but not actually talk to relax your mind. Again, if you need to be talking then this suggestion might not be helpful. But I feel less alone when I am listening deeply to something so I mention it. My relative swears by something called "Whole Tones" which is tonal music that changes the brain waves.
