I just got out of a relationship and in reflection, I realize I have a habit of dating alcoholics. After the breakup, I even went to an al-anon meeting. I learned about codependency. I blocked out that my dad is an alcoholic for so long, but now I think it’s time to face it bc it’s probably affecting my choices more than I knew. As a child of an alcoholic, what have you learned about who that makes us?

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Both my parents were alcoholics and one died from her disease. I was devastated and carried the guilt of my inability to stop the madness, for many years. I married someone who grew up in a dysfunctional home because I thought I could "fix" her. It was a living hell which triggered my own problems with drugs and alcohol.
When I reached my "low" was when I entered outpatient treatment where I learned about my disease and was treated for alot of the underlying problems that triggered it.
There is a good book by John Bradshaw called, "Healing the shame that binds me" which might help you.
Learning to love myself first and to forgive myself instead of looking for love in the outside world was the key to making the right decisions regarding potential future mates. I was less likely to choose someone with problems.
Hope this helps
