Adult child depression and anger/ could use input
My young adult son has lived w/ me about two years. Suffered from depression for years but I didn't know till this year. Prior to this I had raised him as best I could being married to a relapsing off/on alcoholic/addict. I tried her hard to cope and counteract the damage from living w/ him. My son had mistakingly thought living w/ his active alcoholic father would be a good idea. His father seemed cool but wasn't. He stayed w/ him two years and witnessed a lot of abuse from his father to his mistress. Very disfunctional.
My son has been disrespectful to me the past six mos or so and I've had to threaten he leave if he can't straighten up. I know he's been depressed to threaten suicide which I had him taken in for evaluation months ago. He has a bad mouth when upset, which he never had growing up. He had talked to me worse than I ever imagine he would. I told him he needs help because he may have been negatively influenced having lived w/ his dads anger and disfunction. He shouts when trying to vent his frustration. I can't handle it because I have PTSD and he doesn't understand I can't listen to him, even if he needs to vent because I suffered too much dealing with his father in the past. That's why I have suggested he get a counselor which he struggles with complying. Its the only way I can continue having him live w/ me. I can't let him tear me down when I am trying to get/stay up.
I have tried very hard to raise my kids right, teach common sense, morals, coping skills, motivation, the dynamics of families recovering from living w/ addict/alcoholic, codependency. I'm tired! I've done my very best. Its discouraging to see the damage of what my ex's addiction has done to our family years later even. I'm sick of still dealing w/ the after effects of his sh#t!!! I just want a normal peaceful life w/o my son/daughter being f'd up. I've worked my behind off all their lives to fight against the destruction his addiction brought upon us. I wish I'd left him way before I did. Now I'm seeing two good adult kids showing so many symptoms of the damage he brought into our lives.
I couldn't have tried any harder than I did. I'd challenge anyone who said otherwise. I don't even know how I did everything that I'd done. Tips to deal with a son who is so angry/touchy. He's almost 23. Has always been a very good person, but this depression/anger makes me shocked, Discouraging. I understand good boundaries is a must. Anyone else dealing w/ these issues?

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

At 23, your son will have to be taught by the school of life. My dad kicked me out at the age of 21. It was the best thing he did for me. It forced me to man up, get a job and a place to live.
The definition of anger, is an attempt to make someone else feel guilty for the dis-ease that I feel.
It's a good idea to leave the past in the past and be an example for your kids to follow. Focus on the present.
Nobody here wants to judge you in any way and I really think you need alot of support for yourself and alanon is a great place to find that support.

Please go. I've gone to Al Anon for 7 years. I would be in crazy town without it.
