I think it is important to ensure that you are confident in the protection you are using - especially away from home. For me this means sticking to a proven brand of adult diaper that I know works for me and not leaving it too late to get supplies - if I have to use a different brand because the store has sold out I usually end up with leaks.

I use tena maxi pads at night, our bed is protected with a water proof cover just in case and I have a kylie on my side eof the bed. When staying away from home I always take a kylie and my maxi pads..

Away from home I always use diaper/pants and take waterproof mattress sheet & sheet protector. When the fact is known I leave the bed protected; when not I take protection off & store till bedtime.
As I am an everynighter this avoids any hassle at friends, relatives, hotels etc. I include bags for discreet disposal of diapers.

Like most of you, I have a protective plastic sheet on my bed. I wear the Reasure Overnight underwear with a diaper doubler both from HDIS. I am a heavy wetter and they keep the sheets dry most nights. Abena are nice but they cost too much. I also use the Reasure underpads with secure strips. If my diaper does leak leak, the bed sheets stay dry. I am also incontinent and disposables during the day. If you have wetting issues during the day or night, talk with the folks at HDIS.com. They have been a big help to me.

When sleeping away, no matter what disposable product you select, I think its pretty important to have plastic or vinyl pants over them. That provides the additional protection one needs when a leak would be particularly humiliating.

When I'm away from home, it depends on where I am at. For a hotel, if I have a room to myself, I will call ahead and request a plastic/rubber sheet for my bed. Then I will use my normal night diaper and usually plastic pants as well. When I'm staying at someone else's house, ie a relative or friend, then I will bring a bed pad to use since its easier to hide and travel with. And then my normal night diaper and sometimes plastic pants (if I have a room to myself). Much easier to dispose of in the morning.

I haven't been posting much since I joined. I've been learning to cope with my bedwetting problems and it's getting better dealing with it. I do not use any special mattress protector at all and do not need it. When I first started needing something at night, I tried several disposable incontinence products working up to tape on disposable briefs. I discovered even those leaked so I tried cloth reusable products with a waterproof pant over them. I have found just the right combination to absorbe without leaking but be comfortable enough to sleep in with out a lot of bulk. I do travel once a year on a trip with a friend and last few times we have had separate hotel rooms. The problem last year was bringing back wet diapers as it took up room, they had to be double bagged in a plastic zipper garment bag and they added weight to the suitcase. Then there was always the worry my friend who was driving would somehow find out or smell something. I will probably take a disposable bed pad next spring and I have been reading about some top quality disposable products like Abena and others. I will probably try some before taking my next trip and if they work well enough, I'll pack enough to last the trip with a couple extras just in case. Then I can double bag them in plastic grocery bags I can pack along and toss them in the trash in the hotel room. That way I won't have to deal with a weeks worth of wet cloth diapers when traveling if I don't have to. I just have to make sure my friend doesn't come in my hotel room and use the bathroom in the morning.

I wear Depends which soak up 15oz during the week but weekends I wear Tranquility ATN (all through the night) which soak up 28oz. I use a plastic cover on the bed. When I'm not sleeping at home I take an air bed and change in their bathroom into diapers w/o plastic backing so they are quiet...then very loose nylon jog pants so they mask the plastic pants rustling.

I use the same method as Nicholas. If staying in a hotel/motel, I call ahead and ask for a waterproof mattress pad to be placed on the bed. I wear my wellness briefs with a Poise pad inside, soaker pad between the diaper and my baby pants. Then I also have a flannel backed rubber pad (crib sheet) that I sleep on. The motel/hotel staff check my bed every morning, and take care of any bedding changes that was cause by soiled linens.
If staying with relatives, use the same setup, but often bring my own mattress protector so I don't ruin the mattress.

When not at home I use Abena M4 briefs with Gary Active Wear pants or Suprima pants. I always use a protective pad on the bed. I also wear diaper suspenders to keep the M4 up tight so there are no gaps.

Depends seem to have the best marketing and brand recognition, but in my opinion they should only be used by someone who has very light incon. The brands that are mostly available on the internet like Abena, Molicare, Wellness, Tranquility, Dry 24/7, Tena. . . . are far superior and worth the extra expense.

I use cloth diapers with plastic pants at home but when away from home I'll use abena or dry 24/7 with a plastic pant cover. Trying to travel with cloth diapers is pretty tough.

Tena slip maxi disposable diapers/nappies and a washable absorbent bed pad in case of any leaks. Doesn't fail.
