Hotel Travel and Bedwetting

I've been following this group for a while, but finally found the time to post something. Given some of the discussion here, and also with other groups and friends with a similar problem, I've decided to start a blog exploring some of the challenges faced by a bedwetter who happens to travel a great deal.

I would appreciate members feedback and thoughts, particularly in the realm of what you do when travelling. Also I'm hoping to translate some useful expressions, and so if you happen to have any linguistic abilities, and would be willing to help please let me know.

When we travel Mom always contacts the hotel or guesthouse prior to the trip. Usually we travel together that means there are two bedwetters and get thicker padding with plastic pants and in case the hotel staff did not add a bed protection Mom has mattress protector for each of us. Usually we use the same hotels or guesthouses so they know us and are aware. Mom leaves our stuff on the bedside table or hangs washed wet diapers it in the bathroom for drying but she doesn't hide anything. It is sometimes very embarrassing. On our last trip she got us in disposable diapers with plastic pants on top. Mom seems to like them more and more because there is no washing the next day but room maids were still giggling when cleaning room and bathroom.

I love travelling but seldom stay in hotels preferring cheaper hostels.
Hostel,mattresses are usually well protected anyway but I always wear my protection too....the kind/brand I use varies.. I travel light of course, and post my supplies of protection & other stuff ahead of me in a box. In hostels we sleep in sleeping bags and that can be difficult if there is a leak. So sometimes I go to a charity shop,and buy an old sheet for my bunk, unzip the sleeping bag and just have it cover me like a downy. Of course hostel dorms have no privacy at all but I've soon discovered that other travellers are seldom bothered to see me 'wearing my diaper. Younger people might stare ...so I just talk to them about how it is for me.. Education really helps ! In 4 years of regular hosteling I only ever met one other bedwetter. He gave me the idea of posting my diapers ahead of me in a box to where I was going !

Responding to your post, the author, I would like to note that there are so many options for budget hotels or hostels. Owners place their ads by apartment, room or hotel. And this is reliable as you contact directly with services, an example at https://planetofhotels.com/en/mexico/durango/5-star-hotels. I managed to find a night in a 5-star hotel when I thought I would spend three times more, but the city of Durango in Mexico was supportive. Planetofhotels provides many options and you can quickly figure out what exactly fits.

A hotelier told me that when they host football/rugby teams they put waterproof covers on all their beds - just in case.....!
