Adoption Support Group
Adoption is the legal act of permanently placing a child with a parent or parents other than the birth parents. Whether you are looking to adopt, putting your child up for adoption, parenting an adopted child, or just thinking about it, this is the place to discuss.

It sometimes is so difficult to wait for an adoption. First we waited through our infertility and now we wait for the possibility of being parents through an adoption. All this waiting makes me feel like we are a rejects because no one has chosen us. Not that we have had many offers...actually nothing in the last few months. It is so quiet.
How does one wait?

Well actually the parents I picked had been waiting for over a year. No one would choose them and choose everyone arround them and they as well felt the same. I interviewd 2 couples. The first extremly ideal. Young, good head on thier shoulders, and anyone would want them. The second were a lot like me just looking for a great life for my child, honest, thoughtful, and patient. Thats why I picked them. There is someone for you. Your child may not have been born yet but she or he will come in their time. You will see. =)

The waiting is the hardest, we have been waiting for 2 years now, and we are not looking for a baby, I hear the wait for an infant is longer. All the best with the process, but the waiting doesn't get any easier.

Let me make a suggestion that is not always well received. Waits in the foster care system are considerably shorter. Some people can accept the risk a child may be returned to their parents, and some may not, but there are large numbers of kids in the system looking for homes. We have adopted two, are finalizing on a third, and have fostered five others, all under the age of three. It can be a very rewarding experience.

We are adopting a 4 year old internationally because we did not want to go through all the red tape domestically. The whole process has been a year and 6 months and we finally located a little girl in colombia. I feel fortunate that it was relatively short (the process) but we are still waiting to go get her , maybe another 2 weeks. Have you thought of adopting an older child? The orphanage in Colombia has so many kids between 3-6 and they are so cute. Anyway, I know your time will come as well. I have strong faith that the waiting period served for God to choose the right one for you. :)
