Adoption Support Group
Adoption is the legal act of permanently placing a child with a parent or parents other than the birth parents. Whether you are looking to adopt, putting your child up for adoption, parenting an adopted child, or just thinking about it, this is the place to discuss.

We just got back from a great weekend getaway for our 30th aniv.We have three teenagers an eleven year old and two aged five.We had been planning on the two five yearolds. We warn other foster or adoptive parents not to take on more than they can handle or feel guilty in not adopting every foster child who comes up for adoption.I know many of you are anxious to begin adopting. We are now thinking that we would be taking on more than we should. We are now stuck in the guilt that we warn others about. We have been talking about time with our grandchildren,Two boys so far,and our ages when the girls would be when they will be old enough to leave home.I would be going on seventy. One of the most important things is that my wife just doesn't feel up to all that lies ahead at this point in life. She has been raising children over twenty five years. My wife is afraid of what people, social workers, bio parents etc. will think if we decide not to adopt..She feels like she is letting me down also because I had been so in favor of it.Thanks for listening.

Please don't feel guilty. We do the best we can, and that's all we can do. Girls can be so much harder than boys, at least according to the parents we talk to. Don't beat yourself up, and by all means, don't live your lives worrying about how other people may judge you, they don't have to walk in your shoes. My wife wants a fourth and I'm 53. I would love to adopt an older child with less chance of adoption, but she is fearful the older child's issues will be too disruptive for our little ones. Like you, I will be 71 when the last child leaves for college if we adopt another baby. Young adulthood is such a critical time, I really want to be here to help. The wife just wants her daughter to have a sister because she didn't have one. Oh the trials of a second life!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
