Adoption Support Group
Adoption is the legal act of permanently placing a child with a parent or parents other than the birth parents. Whether you are looking to adopt, putting your child up for adoption, parenting an adopted child, or just thinking about it, this is the place to discuss.
After we decided we were most interested in open infant domestic adoption, we found a local agency, and I made some posts on facebook asking if anyone had ever heard of them. I got some great feedback on their reputation from a couple friends who are social workers.
Adoption can feel very overwhelming, because it's not something you typically know about or talk about unless you've been through it or know someone close to you who has. But it's very doable and manageable. You just have to jump in. From the day we decided to adopt, to the day we began waiting to be matched, it was less than a year. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions!
as an adopted person please make sure that your new one knows as much info as you can provide for him/her so that later on the seeds are there if they then wish to find their real mum and that when it happens you give all the support you can. im sure at the end of the day adoptive mums will still be mum to the child and usually can benifit from the reunion as well good luck and lots of hugs as you persue your dream.
