Think of the child! I would have done anything to have been in a foster home where the parents cared like you seem to do. Not all of us are taken away from foster homes. I was adopted through the fc system ...I had to wait until I was 16 but it was worth it. Even the positive impact you give a foster child for even a short time can be very important to us. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Usually your agency will work with you in placing a child likely to be approved for adoption. There's still the risk that you could lose them, but it's lower. If you're willing to take an older child, there are literally thousands of children across the country awaiting adoption from the foster care system.
My wife and I have adopted two children from foster care, and have been caring for another since birth who is now six months old. He's a sibling of the other two, and there's a very good chance of finalization.
We had another adorable boy and girl for eighteen months who ended up being returned to abusive parents. Yes it's heartbreaking, but those kids now what love is, and they know enough to say something to a teacher or minister if the parents abuse them again. And no, you never forget them and never stop loving them. I know a woman who has cared for 25 infants in the last six years, and another who has adopted ten children from foster care in the last fifteen years. Hang in there!!
