Thank you for your replies.Adoptive placement was made today and finalization has been moved up to Nov.27th.Getting to the place of considering adoption is a big step.Let me tell you how we adopted our children.We have been foster parents for about 21 years.and the children we adopted came up for adoption after reunification didn't work out.During this time we have had many children return home.there were those we would have adopted had they come up for adoption.Many people avoid foster care because of just that.Another option is what is called in California,Fost-Adopt where only children who look like they will be going up for adoption are placed with you.One great thing about adopting through the foster care system is that most or all of the adoption is paid for and a family may be eligable for adoptive assitance and medicare.Adoptions through private agencies can be very expensive.Good luck.

I am newly certified in the foster-to-adopt program through DHR and waiting on the call for a child placement. I am excited and have had a wonderful experience so far. I have a 19 y/o daughter and am still able to have children (in theory), but I believe it is more important to give a child who needs one a home and family. What you are doing is a great thing.
