i am a christian and have been wondering if anyone else has wondered about this: does god want us to take meds for our condition? i know that since i've been on my adderall i have been doing much much better, and i even am more consistant with prayers, i follow through with my christian obligations, and feel that i am overall doing better. however, sometimes i feel like i'm wrong for taking meds. i am just curious what other christians with add think about this.

Some things we don't talk about, we breathe them... Some things cannot be explained, but rather experienced. Some of the most healing moments arise when given the memory, acknowledging the love. One cannot go back in time; we move forward, and we carry the love we shared. No one but ourselves has the power to do so, or the permission to do so, but ourselves. So live life with your faith and...

I've been feeling like I don't matter my wife the other day instead of telling me she was having a pain day when I went to have sex with her she tell me afterwards that she having pain day due to her fribromyalgia and making feel like shit afterward saying she has a list of things from past 9 years of thing for me to do and is always adding more and more to this list and talk...

Since taking my meds, I have been more proactive in my family, work and at play. The difficulty of retaining what I have read is behind me. My mood swings are even keiled. This means that I can concentration on my prayers and bible reading much more. I am certain that God would also want my quality of life to be better so that I can do his work more effectively.
Take your medicine!!! God gave people this knowledge. Give Him thanks and praise for the scientists and medical professionals who have dedicated their lives to using this knowledge to make our lives better.
ADHD since kindergarten. I noticed a problem right away when he started school. He was extremely hyperactive and could not sit still long enough to learn anything. In my heart I wanted to believe that I was like everyone else and didn't need any medication. I didn't want to be labeled as "Crazy" or "different." When I realized that I couldn't help my son with homeschool I knew that I needed help. Now that I am taking Vyvanse and my son is taking the same thing I know that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of you, it only matters what you think of yourself. I am happy that I can help my son now. God is good all the time.
If you are concerned about side effects, then monitor any changes and talk with your doctor. There may be some people who can manage without meds but that doesn't mean one way or another when it comes to you. We can all give various examples either way but in the end, those examples aren't you.
And though this is both about god and meds, some of these post read a little too . . . rough. So everyone, please remember that things can easily be interpreted as less than kind when responding, especially since it is about God.
I am Christian and a very religious person so when I was reading some of these posts I was starting to get a little nervous. Some were coming across as a little mean. Doctors have the knowledge most people don't about health. Please do not automatically assume that the medicine prescribed is unneeded. Yes, there are certainly cases of just writing a prescription but if ANYONE is ever concerned, remember you can stop the doctor and speak with them. No one is prevented from asking questions or even changing doctors if they feel theirs isn't listening to concerns.
I have had doctors in the past who just wrote a prescription without really interacting with me and I chose to find one who would stop and go over concerns.
And if you are still really concerned about God, you can always speak with your priest. Though, I would say that instead of the question of should I take my medicine, it should be 'Does taking medicine anger God?' as his (or her if you have a female spiritual leader) area is God and not medicine. I feel like that cannot be stressed enough. It is always important to make sure the question is for that person's field of study. That way you can feel more secure in the answer.
Sorry for the ramble, I have just gotten over being sick and hadn't taken my ADD meds for a week because it.
