Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD) are more common than you might think. It is a syndrome that exhibits symptoms such as hyperactivity, forgetfulness, mood shifts, poor impulse control, and distractibility. My son may be recommended for this class. He does not have any underlying emotional issues, however, I have heard this class is a catch all for anything that does not fall under physical and communication disabilities.

If your talking about letting an ISD label your child as "emotionally disturbed", then you are asking for trouble. This will follow him through high school. My son's school wanted that label for him in elementary. I'm glad I said "no". He had ADHD and some anxiety (he used to hide under his desk, or when questioned he would "shut down"). All he needed was some medication. Having ADHD qualified him under 504 and OHI (other health impaired) so it gave him modifications in the classroom. If you need to ask me any ?'s don't hesitate. What is an ISD? Is that like the IEP? His IEP has him qualified under OHI also reflecting his ADHD and sensory integration. Everyone keeps telling me of the successes they have seen with kids who go to this class for the Severly Emotionally Disturbed.... I have alot of thinking to do I guess. What type of negative impact do you think it could have?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
