Hi everyone...
My shrink refused to prescribe me ritalin in fear of abuse since i tend to love uppers.. well.. she had a good point!
I am buying them from a street source, which means I'm worse off because I can buy as many as I want (thanks, doctor).
So I'm lost.. is there a regiment or typical dose? I'm very light around 130lbs...
Another question... I just broke up with my GF plus i have a very very stressful computer job that runs 24/7 pretty much on call... this at the same time as starting ritalin.
I've been -very- nervous and impatient... is that a side-effect of ritalin? I tend to try NOT to use it during work , but to save the energy and focus until after 6pm when i'd normally get way too tired to get all my work done.
I love what ritalin has done for me and my life. I never would have kept this job, and would still be suffering with my ex if not for the focus it has brought me.
But what can you tell me a doctor might?! Should I use it everyday same time? Do i use it on days I am not working / do not need to concentrate or do i take same-dose daily regardless of workload?
Finally.. i am wondering if they typically prescribe fast-release or slow-release these days... i prefer fast-release but i think it's the addict in me.. perhaps the slow release were in fact a healthier choice mentally.
Any comments? I will say one thing.. there is NO WAY I am stopping to use this medication. Without it I am at least 10x crazier. I am still a bit whacko with ritalin, but it's a smidgeon of the insanity that accompanies my mind without it. I wonder if i took regular dose every day same time from morning if it would be better than saving for when i feel i need it... that is an essential question i am at a loss for.

So I am not a physician or psychiatrist, but I think you will need to address your addiction issues before you can decide how to take a habit forming drug that you are obtaining illegally. How do you do on marijuana? Does it help you relax enough not to freak out and act over stimulated all the time? Maybe just stop the drugs altogether, but do so while under in-patient detox in the care of actual medical and psychiatric professionals that really care about recovering people. Finding the right care is crucial to a good recovery, because there are a lot of people working in the healthcare professions that don't actually care at all about the people they are supposed to be caring for. A doctor that always says "yes" to their patients is probably afraid to say "no" even if saying no is what the patient really needs.

No way! :) I've been through crack addiction and THAT was terrible but i've been clean for about ten years with no urges... the weed i'm not complaining.. . the ritalin has saved my life from ADD symptoms destroying all vestiges of success.. i've gone from broke to thriving and respected within about 6 months of finally being able to focus all my energies.. now i have two projects instead of twenty two, and they are both working out. I just wanted some medical advice on ritalin so i don't abuse it.. i don't know if 10mg a day or 50mg a day is ok and still nobody here has helped me thank you very much!
