Immunity to Adderall?

I've been taking Adderall continuously for about a year. Before that I took a break for a few years but in high school I took it continuously for 3 years. I take a 20mg dose 2x a day. The last refill I got was from a different pharmacy (same company, different location, my regular location didn't have enough in stock). I feel like I've suddenly built up this immunity to it. This past month I have been bitchy, irritable, moody, emotional, anxious, and so unable to focus. More than I ever have been. Maybe it's because I'm under a lot of stress but I had stress before. I called the pharmacy to see if maybe there was a complaint about the drug. He basically told me it was all in my head and treated me like some kind of addict. I've never refilled my Rx early! Sometimes it's a week or two later than I should because I don't usually take it on weekends. I'm afraid to ask my doctor to try and give me a higher dosage because of all the negative publicity the drug gets. I'm afraid he will think I'm seeking. Unfortunately all the people selling it and abusing it make it harder for those of us who really need it. Has anyone else had this problem? Have you suddenly had your dose stop working?

All I know is my son was on adderall for a few years until it stopped working for him and his pdoc had to switch him to Concerta.

I was on adderall for about a month and then it just stoped working i guess it does happend i tried strattera but that stopped working to then my parents just took me off my medication perminantly its impossible sometimes but what am i going to do pitch a fit that wouldnt help the problem so it all depends on what you do.

It sounds like you may have been on generic Adderal or amphetamine salt. Many people don't realize it, but generic drugs are not held to same quality control standards of branded drugs. Batch to batch, company to company you can see up to a 20 percent variance. It is possible that this batch was not as good or the pharmacy changed their supplier.

As you will find on USA Today's recent article, pharmacists are not always trustworthy. They are out to make money just like anyone else.

I would see about going to a branded Adderal XR or Vyvanse which I love most. A pharmacist is never going to steer you from a generic to a branded b/c the mark up on generics is so high and they make a lot more money.

Did you ever try Strattera? All the AD/HD meds are spped except strattera-it balances your brain chemsitry. The good news is that it will either work or nothing will happen-n side affects

I'm not sure this is advice...more like empathetic input/questioning...Does that make any sense. I took adderall 20mg XR before I was pregnant (2007). I started taking it again in 2008. When I began to take it, it seemed to work. Now, I'm not so sure. I discussed this with my doctor and he agreed to increase the dosage. Now I take 25mg XR and really can't tell the difference. I also feel like some kind of addict who needs more to feel "normal". I'm really starting to believe that I may be completely immune to Adderall. This is very frustrating, especially since it's been going on for a while. Did you resolve your medication issue?

I am so glad I read this link! This is exactly what is happening to my son. He takes Adderall 30 mg XR once daily. For the first 4 mos or so we had a new son...all was good in his world, then it stopped working. I believe he had built up an immunity to it although I do notice a small difference when he doesn't take it. (the difference perhaps being more like a cranky mild withdrawl)I am now convinced we need to change medication. My son is severe ADHD with poor impulse control & very hyper. (gets into trouble a lot) He has no filter. he has also developed a tic..he constantly picks...his arms, back & face..moreso when stressed. Thankyou to you all...I am calling the Dr. today & maybe we can get him ajusted before he starts his 1st yr in High School in less than 2 wks. After reading numerous posts I'm thinking that Concerta may be the drug of choice?? Any other advise is greatly appreciated & I'll keep you all posted...:)

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
