My daughter is on the medication roller coaster. After Ritalin LA 20 mg failed to work and Vyvanse 20 mg was wonderful, but gave her headaches and made her a sobbing mess; we are not trying focalin xr 10mg. This poor girl has been through a lot trying to get her med right and she is not yet 6 years old! Is this common? Should I expect better from the focalin?

my son just turned 5 and has been on adderall, daytrana patch & focalin. We LOVE focalin.. It really works for him. :) good luck

My son has been on Focolin XR for about 3 years. We started at 5 mg, but as he grew, we went to 10 mg twice a day and now 20 mg twice a day. It is the best for him but doesnt last long enough. By watching him I was able to figure out what time to give the first dose, then the second. We started out the school year giving him his second dose after recess but found by changeing the time to before recess worked great. I didnt need to increase his dose, just tweek the times given. On weekends he only gets one dose. We had also tried Adderall and Vyvanse, both had side effects on him. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the replies. Today was day one of focalin xr. She as a lot less emotional and only complained of a small headache and five minutes later she as up and playing. So all and all a good start. Just hope she is paying attention in school the ay she as on the Vyvanse. We'll se at her PPT on Thursday!

My daughter has taken Focalin XR and Intuniv for a year. She did great on it at first. We are now changing the Focalin to Vyvanse, as the Focalin doesnt last as long for her anymore........she crashes after school and is a wreck! My impression is that they start "metabolizing" the meds quicker after being on them a while and they have to swap up. SShe will remain on Intuniv with the Vyvanse. I hope this new combo lasts for awhile. Good luck with the Focalin. I think you will like it. Maybe she can stay on it for a longer period of time then we did.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
