I'm not ADHD, but I have felt like you before. Do you consider yourself and introvert or extrovert? Reason being is that introverts use a lot more energy when with people/entertaining or trying to be a people person. They draw their energy from within, which is why afterwords they sometimes want to be left alone or need that down time to recharge those batteries so to speak. Extroverts draw their energy from those around them, so they thrive on others' energy. Does this make sense? I'm guessing your feelings may even be more elevated due to having ADHD because you are not only entertaining, but having to focus on one thing for an extended time. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but it is just an idea! Hang in there! :)
stepmomma- I consider myself an extrovert, I have a lot of friends and talk to everyone and am usually the stupid silly one entertaining friends at school (I'm trying not to sound cocky). although, for all I know I'm just a social person who's closet introvert or something, idk. haha, that does open me up to the idea of the possibility that it's more mental tire though, it takes a lot out of me because I talk a lot more outside of school which requires thinking a lot more to not make mistakes with my english.
I actually learned that it has nothing to do with how you act around others - it is where you draw your energy. I know a lot of introverts that are super outgoing/loud/life of the party.
Here is how you can figure this out: After you entertain/converse with friends/family/coworkers, do you feel more energized? If not, you are probably an introvert. Extroverts will feel rejuvenated and energized after doing just the same.
Another thought might be that there is some anxiety/depression involved. It seems like you are getting really anxious in anticipation for your friends coming over and then super drained once they are gone. Maybe there is just an imbalance going on. I would start talking to a doctor and get some more advice and go from there. Good luck :)
