Anyone here have experience with Straterra or a mood stabilizer like Depakote? Our nine-year-old son has been having rages every afternoon for two weeks now. We saw the psychiatrist this afternoon and she's recommending the mood stabilizer, but it's a more serious option than Straterra. I'm leaning toward Straterra, but the downside is that it may not be strong enough to manage his symptoms. He'd be taking this in addition to his stimulant, Concerta.
When my son was having those rages with his Adderall, we finally gave him the On Task and he was like night and day. It was an amazing difference. I feel rather certain that you could probably give the On Task in the afternoons as his Concerta is wearing off. Of course, the On Task is more for calming than it is for focus, but we all know these kids need calming as well. Hope this helps.
