or is it just me?i hav BIG trouble switching off noise around me wen im trying to focus.everything blends into one noise.the kids are playing inside and my frend is talking to me and i cant hear her,just bits of it.sumtimes i put earmuffs on if i need to focus on a job im doing and there is noise around me.i was very shocked at myself wen putting a load of bark on my aunties front garden.aunty and my girl who's 7 were playing out the front watching me.the noise they made annoyed me at first so i put my earmuffs on.i could still hear them and almost couldnt put the spade into the bark to flick it onto the garden.i wanted to scream at them to shut up,to f off.i felt rage at not being able to focus,i felt rage that they were stopping me from focusing .i was trying so so hard but in no way was i able to switch off the noise.the rage was internal and i began to sweat alot as i held it in.a mum at school said to me the other day that motherhood was great because u learn to switch off.well this boat i hav clearly missed and it was brought home to me the other day wen my girl said to me "u always tell me to ssshhhh mum".i felt bad but i hav enough trouble keeping myself on a direct path and focusing on doing whats good for use as a family.aaaagggghhhh! am i bad?

noises drive me crazy. I use silicone ear plugs. Noises seem to be much louder when I am on medications. I was in class and a girl sitting behind me kept clicking a pen during our lecture and I was freaking out. I wanted to yell at her. I told the teacher and he told me to confront her but i didn't because I know it would lead to a fight or argument.

I have noticed the same thing, I tend to like quiet. When I was trying to study for my college classes I was taking I had to turn everything off and asked my daughter if she could use earplugs. It seemed like everything was distracting me.

I haven't had any problems with sound, but then I always have a song in my mind. Maybe replaceing the noise with a pleasent song might work. It works for me.

Maybe humming a song might be something you could share as a hobby with your daughter instead of putting her off. She might know some too that would be a pleasent and a happy thought of you in the future. Maybe with her kids.

My son makes a whole lot of noise but he can't stand it. He gets really upset when he is trying to concentrate on something and his brother is making noise. They both have ADHD so they are both always making noise. My youngest says the noise at school bothers him a lot, and then he told me that the noise is in his head and it never stops. I have always been sensitive to noise as well, in the mornings it seems that things are so much louder, than my ears are so much more sensitive. My boys make a whole lot of noise especially in the mornings before they have had their medication. The oldest is supposed to be eating breakfast but instead he makes annoying noises. Hmmm maybe it's me that has the problem! :{

its actually a symptom; phones ringing, cars going by, any of that stuff causes over stimulation

same problems with me
I have to sleep in earplugs with a fan blowing to take out the noises of the cars and whatever else is there.
I hate it but for me I have to just try to find ways to deal with it in whatever way I can.
