Who did the Diagnosis and have you gotten a second opinion? Our sons school tried to say our son has ADHD-hyperactive type, from there we went to a neuro psychologist because I did not agree with the school. Pyschologist sent us to a speech/language pathologist. We learned he had 5 language disorders and Verbal Dyspraxia(Apraxia), Then we seeked EEG, 1 abnormal, 1 normal to date. NO signs of any seizure disorders. Behavioral/Developmental pediatrician DX him with Language Disorders, DCD(Dyspraxia), Sensory Processing Disorder, ADhD-in conclusive. Neuro Chiropractor found him to be Dyspraxic with left and right brain hemisphere dysfunctions, most recent--I think the one that wraps everything up-4 Vision Disorder--He has very little Vision Acuity problems-he has Oculo-Motor Disorder(Dyspraxia), Exophoria(eye teaming difficulties), Convergence Insufficiency, Reduced Depth Perception, and Accommodative Insufficiency. All of these DX's can have symptoms that mimic ADHD. We tried Homopathics, dietary changes, scripts, etc--none of them have had any positive affects towards his ADHD symptoms. The Behavioral Optometrist and Behav/Develop pediatrician both agree that it's because he does not have ADHD--So Please make sure the DX is correct. I don't know what you have done for testings but as you can see we have left no stone unturned and look at what we have discovered, Ut would not have happened if I hadn't of stuck to my guns knowing that he did not have ADHD. Our son has behavioral problems as well, it's all part of the conditions he does have.
Some here suggest trying giving the child a cup of coffee, if you haven't tried that maybe you should. If it helps him, them it would confirm the DX of adhd--If not then maybe you should seek another opinion.
my aunt ( shes a social worker) always told me. "pick your battles"
you cant win them all, so decide which ones are most important and focus on them
pray first....then progress..do it for him
