ADHD and socializing?.........

Quite often, I have trouble thinking of what to say and how to act around people and I wonder if my ADHD has anything to with it. It's been over a decade since that last time I was screened for ADHD and took medication for it and I have been experiencing difficulties in socializing for quite some time now. If there's anyone who shares this particular issue and/or has expertise in ADHD, how it can effect social skills, and what can be done to treat it, I would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Sounds like me. I have great difficulty in knowing what to say. I have "faked it" for several years usually allowing the person to talk extensively while I nod or agree. I have problems with interrupting while others are talking which is annoying to them, but I have gotten by for the most part. I too am considering medication treatment to help slow down the ride when I am out socially. I think talking to your doctor is a good idea and perhaps starting some therapy with an ADD specialist is a good idea. Don't know if this will help, but always worth a try. Good luck.

I do other work while the person in on the phone, so I can get be productive and not waste time but appear to be carefully listening.

The only time I had a problem was when I told my wife, and when she called the next day she asked, Do you have me on speaker.

Thanks jmanii. I am planning to see a therapist about this very soon. I hope this will be worth the effort. It would be the 1st time I go to therapy and take medication at the same time. And thanks for recommending that book Bobby5000. I will definitely check it out. :)
