It metabolizes in 8-12 hours, so it doesn't make sense to take your dose at 2pm if you're planning to stay out until midnight. You might find yourself running out of steam by 10pm! Besides, you're body's needs will vary depending on what's going on in your life and any infections, mild or severe, that it's fighting. Not taking too much close to bed time is good advice because it can affect your sleep, but you need to find a reasonable balance for your medication schedule and dosing so you don't over-medicate but still have enough energy to keep up with life.
