Addison's Disease Support Group
Addison's disease (also known as chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism) is a rare endocrine disorder. It is estimated that it affects about 1 to 2 in 100,000 people. It occurs when the adrenal glands, seated above the kidneys, fail to produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, sometimes, the hormone aldosterone
Thank you for your reply! I have been doing this for so many years, that I wonder what it has done to me. I like your idea of taking it early with some food, but since my esophagus is eroded, I just can't go back to sleep after I've eaten or drank anything. I also have to take a zantac late at night, so I can sleep a little.
You HAVE inspired me to try to at least make some small changes, and see if I can inch toward an earlier morning.
I know what you mean, I'm grateful for the good days, too! Wishing you the best health possible,
Judith
I take many afternoon naps because I have to get up early to get the synthroid and cortisol going. How many hours after you eat can you lie down? The esophageal thing sucks! What about 7am dose, stay up and skip lunch, fit a nap in there before you eat/dose mid afternoon. I really believe if you take a late afternoon dose you won't sleep. How late have you been taking them? You just have to experiment with your system. It took quite a while for me also. Also I have depression from the Addison's/Hashimoto's diseases and I think the anti depressant has helped me sleep sounder. If you are experiencing any depression I highly recommend seeing a counselor who does drug management because we have so, oh, so many meds! Keep up the good fight. Stay strong!
