What the??? Ever since July, I have been hit with some kind of hay fever (though July is too early for it, here) and it has just gotten worse with each week. I used to have hay fever as a child, and up until around age 38. Then, it was completely gone, for over two decades. I mean, I never had a sniffle, Springtime cough, nothing!
Now, it seems my immune system must be compromised a lot, because I'll wake up and aside from a gasping for air (which is another tale) I feel fairly well, until about one half hour after I take my hydrocortisone. Then the hay fever clomps me, and not just the head stuff, but all over! I feel completely washed out, so weak that I can't rest, if that makes sense, and barely able to function.
My question is, have any of you had allergies come on after taking HC for a while, or have had them made worse? I felt sick enough that I thought I should take more HC, but then that would probably make me sicker??? =[

Yes, I can tell my immune system is acting up, one way or another. I wish I could take some of those immune boosting products they talk about, but we're not supposed to, with auto-immune problems. =(
I've been pushing the vitamins (I get lazy about them, usually) and I might feel a tad better. HA! Vanyel, you hit the nail on the head, my body's deciding to self-destruct! I have to have a serious talk with it!! It is strange, though, that the cortisol makes me feel worse....it's always made me feel terrible!
Before I started on Prednisone, I was SO STRONG!!! I was the jar opener in the family, the one who cleaned out the entire attic of a lifetime of family stuff....I was a power-house. Enter preds, and I couldn't breathe right, and have been gasping, ever since. I'm ranting....I know we ALL, in some level or another, have lost a part of who we were. I do pretty well at ploughing through the day and accepting it....I just have to not think about who I was.
BTW, Alabama, it's funny that some do better on prednisone and some on HC. I think I've noticed a small improvement on HC....until these allergies!
