Paka - Wasn't attacking you or your opinion. We all appreciate your honesty! As you gave your opinion, I'm reaching my hand out to help a fellow AD and if possible save him some travel time and headaches. After all, we all know finding a great Endo who will listen and not regurgitate textbook reading is very hard to find and I am thankful I lucked out in finding one with my first go of seeing an Endo :)

Paka - I appreciated your honest opinion and frankly expected about as much. I am grasping at straws, and don't want to waste my time with something that is bullshit. I have no idea how to find a decent, interested, good enough, endocrinologist to help me, or even if that is the right direction to be looking. I know all of you out there have been through lots of endos and really wanted to hear your opinions and feelings about them. Thank you Paka!

Thank you all for your help. I work in the medical field, so you'd think I would have an inside track - but I tell you, doctors eat their young, think horribly of each other, never talk to each other, and think everyone else is an idiot. I don't know how they get anything done. They certainly don't operate in a way to help people. And these days, with their focus on evidence based medicine - they just follow their idiot cookbooks and algorithms and don't even bother to think. If it's outside that box, forget it. So sorry that you are having problems. I originally went to mayo in az but they determined that I need to go to Rochester which I did to have my adrenals out. I asked them to help find an endo in montana and they wanted me to keep coming back to Rochester. something that would be impossible for us. They would not refer me to an endo in montana just said to look for one on the Internet so I did feel that they were all about money. It's is just my opinion others may have had a better outcome. Hi, I am very very new to the Addison's disease! Just been on steroids for 2 days now. The side effects of steroids are scary!!

I like in Ireland right now, but will be moving to S.D in about 5 months and I need to find somewhere with a good endo unit! Sounds like this is a very ugly disease and the drugs even more scarier! Sorry Vanyel that you aren't doing so well and I hope you get it all sorted out soon!!

Hi Kelly, welcome to the Addison's support group. This is a really good place to learn about Addison's and all the ways we use of controlling the disease that the doctors don't talk about. Read as many posts as you can. Feel free to ask any questions you have, we're all here to help. I've had Addison's now for 15 years.

Are you moving from Ireland to South Dakota? Or does SD stand for something else? I wasn't sure.

I know it seems a bit scary at first but once you get to know your body and how it is reacting with your meds everyday you will feel a lot more confident with handling this disease. Good luck and welcome again.

Kelly - if you're moving to South Dakota in the US I live there currently and HIGHLY recommend Dr. Barth in Sioux Falls. I currently drive 2 hours to see him and the drive is well worth it! He's located at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Do no settle to see anyone else in his office, request Dr. Barth. I've seen others in his office and they are not the same caliber that he is!
