Addison's Disease Support Group
Addison's disease (also known as chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism) is a rare endocrine disorder. It is estimated that it affects about 1 to 2 in 100,000 people. It occurs when the adrenal glands, seated above the kidneys, fail to produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, sometimes, the hormone aldosterone
Now fiftenn years later, I am once again exercizing...walking, on a track ( to prevent injuries as I have a bad knee) and weight lifting...low weight three sets of ten.
I was inspired the first week of this new plan, by an elderly woman walking like the wind..I spoke with her and she told me she had been unable to walk even once around the track a year ago, but she just
kept it up.
I find the treadmill very dizzying..I was OK with it prior to Addison's but now I get very dizzy and queasy.
I listen to books on tape while I walk as my mind rapidly starts a dialog ( I hate this..this is dumb, I am getting sweaty) unless I do.
I have lost 14#, feel better and have more stamina..just keep it up..good luck!
Thank you for helping me start working out, it will benefit me in the long run. I did have a day on the couch after the 1st day out.
