Addison's Disease Support Group
Addison's disease (also known as chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism) is a rare endocrine disorder. It is estimated that it affects about 1 to 2 in 100,000 people. It occurs when the adrenal glands, seated above the kidneys, fail to produce enough of the hormone cortisol and, sometimes, the hormone aldosterone

I'm new to this, so this may be a no-no....but has anyone found an endo center or pituitary center that has been a good experience for you? I had a disappointing appointment with one endo and kind of blew me off because she didn't like how I have been treated by others. I'm in the midwest but I am willing to travel. I may have hypopituitarism..I have hypothyroidism and I'm being treated with Florinef for my adrenals but not officially diagnosed. Not that I'm looking for trouble, but I think there may be some auto-immune components that nobody has explored yet. There's been other stuff happen and treated (or treating). Thank you.

I got super lucky and the first Endo I was referred to was and is AMAZING! Doctor Barth he's part of Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Is there a Mayo Clinic nearby? I'd try to see one of their doctors. They're known for being top notch.

I'm still with my original endo, over 10 years. I live just south of LA and have dozen to choose from. I think communication is so important with this doctor. I feel free to speak my mind, let him know if any or all my symptoms have changed, if I want to try non-medical treatment, etc. We discuss everything. It is the same with my primary doctor. Having adrenal and thyroid problems communication is really important. I hope this helps you. I know I read that a lot of people have trouble finding doctors because of distance. Good luck.

I went to the doctor a while ago to see about my allergies. He rubbed my arm and stuck things under the skin. Nothing. He poked and prodded, his phlebotomist drew so much blood people thought that we were dating. The tests all came back negative. Then one day I went back and I told him that I had found the cause of my allergy. It turns out, I am allergic to betrayal.
