I wouldn't say I get panic attacks but I do think my body is telling my mind how to behave. In other words I'll think about an activity or event and my body will say you can't handle that you better not go. I definately think this disease has changed me. I use to be an extravert and now I'm an introvert.

Sometimes our bodies try to tell us something; and they will do strange things to get us to listen; such as panic attacks, or in my case dizzy spells. All I can say is Good Luck.

When I mentioned certin positions, I ment when the center of attention is placed on me. Or if I am in a big groupe of people. I get clostephobic in a sence. I need an excape route. I walk in to a room and the first thing I look for is the washroom so I can use as an excape route. Food and sense also trigger the anxioty. I leave the house with a cold bottle of water an apple and my pills (Lorzapam). Thank you for the replys

Your symptoms are so typical of Addison's. It is because all of these situations are stressful. The adrenals don't care if it is good stress, like a party, or bad stress like an injury. They try to produce the cortisol you need to meet the stress and fail...hence the symptoms. Increasing your cortisol just a tiny bit ahead of the situation may help, as will using tiny doses of antianxiety meds. Meditation may also help so you don't run into the typical 'fear of panic attack' equals 'cause of panic attack'.

This will probably ease up as you come to understand that it isn't dangerous and you have some methods to control it.

I haven't been diagnosed with Addison's but am being seen by an ENDO who is monitoring me. He says all blood work came back fine. My cortisol levels and thyroids are fine. But I feel sick all the time. I feel dizzy, weak, light headed. My primary dr. at one point thought I was suffering from anxiety and put me on meds. I know these symptoms are not caused by anxiety BUT I know in my case, that when I'm under a lot of pressure or am nervous or anxious about an event that is coming up or something like that, I start having symptoms and they last for days even weeks. Sometimes they are so debilitating that I can hardly get out of bed. So I understand what you mean about having flare ups when you are under stressful situations. Every time I know that I have to go somewhere or do something, it's like my body automatically starts feeling sick and my mind tells me, you should stay home. I find that so frustrating because I've always been spontaneous. Sorry, sounds like I'm venting LOL. But really I do understand how you feel.

Sounds like you suffer from anxiety disorder in addition to your other ailments. I too have to take anti-anxiety meds to help control the situations that make me feel like I am going to die sometimes, like grocery stores, use to be huge place for panic/ anxiety attacks. and get this the gas station use to set me off. Once I was able to identify what was the issue and then with some help learning coping skills, breathing, and life skills, things became a lot easier. I was almost home bound because of this disorder, so I know how you feel. Then once I was dx with Adrenal Insuffiency it became hard to realize the feelings again, I thought I had learned how to deal with the beast, but it's all new when your adrenals are in crisis. You need meds more often and things that didn't trigger you before now do, it is a vicious cycle. But be patient , you are not alone. If you ever need to talk I am here. God Bless

If I go to the doc's office I feel very uncomfortable. I never felt that way before but now that I have read the replies and what you said I realize that it's from the Addison's. I was just diagnosed also. I only am supposed to have it slightly but I have other chronic diseases. Hope that your and my feeling's disapate over time.

Alprasalam (sp) worked for her for many years. Later she needed Valium. She never abused any of these meds.

You may want to try Atarax. It's non-addictive and works for many people.
