Hello all, I have a question
How hard is it to get on disability with adrenal insufficiency ?
I have only been diagnosed for two months but this has been going on a lot longer, I know at least 2 years probably longer than that. I have not worked much throughout my life I was very blessed to be able to stay home and raise my two boys , now 20&23
I went back to school and am now a CNA, PCT and phlebotomist
I have been working for 10 months and its not that I'm ready to quit its just really hard some days and I'm not sure how long I will be able to work and unfortunately with the economy the way it is I need to work now. So I guess I was just wanting to see if anyone has any info on this as to how hard it would be for me with not having a lot of years of working to get disability and is adrenal insufficiency a recognized reason for getting disability?

I got my disability on the first try. But if you look at my profile I have a lot of illnesses. You can get disability just for Addison's. some things you might want to look into first since you haven't worked much is how much you would get on social security. Also the medical coverage doesn't kick in for two years after your approved, so you need your own insurance for the first two years. I worked the first ten years I had this disease. Good luck.

If you look or search past threads there was a full thread outlining the steps people took to get on disability and what they found to be most useful during the process. I think it was some time last year. I don't have time to search otherwise I'd gladly do it and link it here.

I'm in Alabama. Was denied with online application but after obtaining attorney, I received it a year later.

I was able to get disability at age 59 after one year diagnosis with AD. I was approved on the first try but I went through a disability lawyer and at the time had been in the hospital a number of times after being in crisis. Disability is based on the last 4 or 5 years of your work pay and if you have not worked enough qtrs. you may not be eligible. Talking to a disability lawyer will help; it will not cost you anything to ask questions. If you decide to use a lawyer you will only pay them a small percent of the back pay from S.S..

Lets just say I'd start gathering my medical records in the morning! We applied several months ago, since we keep a copy of all my medical records it was easier, they will contact your doctors but they wanted information about what I did between 1997-1999 hello, never heard of adrenal or Lupus fog? I'm lucky if I remember what we had for dinner last week. Also make a list of all your doctors x last 15 years, it does seem to go smoother and less stressful if you start online. Just to Social Security and there's a tob for apply for disability, you can scan things in take your time and get follow ups. Just start now take it step by step. Best wishes kimberly

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
