Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
I am as devasted as all of you in this forum, knowing that Eddie passed away. And I was thinking about what our most beautiful recognition (homenaje? in spanish) for him could be.
I cannot speak but by myself, and I hope I wont hurt anybodies feeling, but I think Eddie would be happy if we keep up being possitives and helping each other to get peace of mind and strengh to go on.
It is shaking when an icon passes. Even more when the cause is AML, a desease we all share, and when it is a young person. But, I am mostly sure those icons would like to send us strengh and not fear nor other bad feelings
I hope not to hurt anybody. I myself feel terrible. But I just want to remember that there are many people among us who have won the battle of BMT and AML. Lets focus on possitive. Please... it will help us more....

So beautifully expressed. I will be attending Ed's memorial service in New York this coming Tuesday and will be certain to relay the love from everyone on our website to Ed's wonderful wife. I have, fortunately, attended very few funerals in my life. I am going to think of Ed in the most positive of ways and be thankful that we got to know him. I think that will allow me to keep myself together on Tuesday.
I am beyond thrilled about your blood results, Dave. It is just so great to hear that news. This is the type of news we should all focus our emotional energies on as we think about how many of us are truly doing well, thumbing our noses at AML.
