Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Keir has not had a fever for 24 hours so he is being released. They never found any source of infection. His counts are rising well. Now we need to try to get dental work done next week, if possible, in preparation for the bone marrow transplant.
Two 10/10 matches sent in bloodwork and they both look like great matches, according to the co-ordinator. They are awaiting some further dna tests. They think Keir will probably need one more round of consolidation therapy before going ahead due to the timing. He feels well (except for a sore molar that may need a root canal or something) and except for the enforced isolation is coping amazingly.
