Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Keir completed his third round of consolidation. This is the one that we'd all hoped to avoid. He had a few issues but nothing that delayed anything and is home doing well right now. He goes to clinic tomorrow and also we see his doctor. Hopefully will get more news and info on the transplant plans.
As it stands now, the donor has agreed to give the cells 2/12 and Keir was to enter hospital 2/4.
This was his first experience at Loyola. I was surprised how difficult it was to change hospitals. He had a few fevers that were apparently related the HiDac itself and not an infection. No fever yesterday or today. he's doing well overall as far as I can tell. I'm getting a little worn down.
The step towards transplant is a scary one. Hopeful, but very scary too.

So glad to hear Keir is doing well and his path seems clear for transplant on the 4th. You all have endured so much it's time for all to go to plan, that is my family's prayer for you.

Sending prayers for Keir. Jimmy also had a low EF% and we were not sure if he would be able to get to transplant but here we are 6 months post and he is doing great. Hang in there.
