Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
I just got a call from the SC Coordinator. My schedule is as follows!
25-27 Aug - Basic testing for me to determine my general health (chest xray, EKG, Dental exam, Bone marrow biopsy, etc)
26 Aug - Ryan's basic testing for donation of the NK cells (chest Xray, EKG, labs)
2 Sept - Ryan's blood collection, 1 unit of blood to extract the NK cells
12 Sept - Outpatient chemo testing to determine what level of chemo will be used for the transplant
17 Sept - I'll be admitted and start chemo
23 Sept - Ryan's NK cells will be infused into me
1 Oct - Transplant day! I'll get my donor's stem cells!
I'm excited!!! Right now. I'm sure terror will set in at any moment... It just feels really good to "know" right now.
