Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
We are settling here at the new hospital. Encountered a few hiccups with the picc placement procedure team, they put in a single lumen accidentally, instead of th double on Friday, after I had a few heads on a platter, got them to come back and place the correct one. The First dressing change Sunday was quite the mess too but it should be ok now.
We walked 3 miles around the unit yesterday, which is our gal through this, stay active!
Silver lining... They are allowing me to bring Isabella up tomorrow to see Tony, we've been using FaceTime for the last few days to see her and sing her lullabye before bed, tony is thrilled to see her and should give him a boost!

Question... I see some places require 8/8 Mach vs 10/10. What are everyone's thoughtS

Still on cefepime (not creepiness) lol
The only time my temp went above 99.0 was once when my counts started to recover. My triage nurse aka ubber nurse said most have a low grade fever when counts are recovering. Praying for count recovery and on to transplant

Looks like his counts (at least whites/ANC are rising) and most likely the cause of the temp fluctuations, I hope.
His ANC has doubled up each if the last 3 days.
I'm finally home w izzy and I reviewed the greatest welcome home hug and squeal ever! Tonys happy to know I'm with her again. He might get out within the next 4-5 days depending on counts.

Great news! Always remember that Tony's trajectory with his counts, fever, etc. is more the rule than the exception. Put it all behind you each time and just rejoice with him being home with you and Izzy.

Great news! Vince also had a strange rash after his first consolidation. They did a biopsy and said it was just some sort of folliculitis. They gave him an antifungal shampoo and cream to use and it pretty much disappeared so he quit using it and the rash would return after a round of chemo. It was weird, but they told him to continue to use the shampoo all over his body everyday and the rash did not appear again after that. Maybe Tony has some fungal thing going on too?????? Have a great time together at home :)

What perfect timing? I wonder if Tony's bone marrow has a calender in there and knows that it is a long weekend holiday.
Feed him well and don't let him overdo things. I can tell from your previous posts that he is very physically fit and wants to stay that way. That is great as long as he knows the appropriate limits. It is important, though, to stay as conditioned and in as good a nutritional balance as possible.
I am thrilled for all of you. ENJOY.

During and after induction I had a pretty significant rash on my face head and chest. I took tons of benydryl.
