Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

Dear All,

I just spoke with Laarissa who just received some alarming news- just two weeks after her 100 day BMB showed clean and 100% donor, leukemia blasts have been detected in her peripheral blood.

Her Onc is perplexed because her counts are well within the normal range. He stopped her tacrolimus (sp) and has scheduled her for a BMB on Tuesday. To recap her history, she just turned a young 73, is very healthy. She was FLT 3 positive.

Please, please pray for her.

Dear All,

I am so sorry to report that Laarissa has taken a turn for the worse. I received an e-mail from a fellow Air Force Civilian who has been by her side for the past month-Laarissa has no family. She contracted RSV that turned into pneumonia. She is in the ICU and was intubated on Monday. The ICU doc told our mutual friend that her prognosis is grime. I believe in miracles and am praying for God's divine intervention. Please join me in prayers for dear Laarissa.

I am so sorry to report that laarissa's health continues to decline. Our musk friend that continues to keep vigil by her side. What a blessing he is. Please join me in prayers for almighty God's intervention.

I am so sorry to hear of Laarissa's struggles but so very grateful she has your mutual friend to be by her side. I cannot imagine going through this journey alone and I hope your friend realises what a special person they are. I will continue to send positive thoughts for Laarissa to overcome this hurdle and start her road to recovery.

Thank you Taz. We ask work or have worked in Laarissa's case for the us air force as civilians. We try to exemplify the wingman concept and Paul, or friend is a true blessing. She is battling rsv, pneumonia and a mysterious super contagious virus. I cannot be exposed due to a compromised immune system. My heart aches that I can't see her and hear her adorable British accent.

Julie,
This news is heartbreaking. I am thankful she does have a friend to check on her while she is in ICU. I know it is difficult for you not to go see her,because you are one of the most caring people in this world.
I believe God still allows miracles to happen, if it is in His will.
