Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
As my late friend Gilda Radner once said, "It's always something." Of course your uterus had to be bicornuate, but as you said, Izzy came out just fine. I think the doctors will know what to do under these circumstances.
Many people experience increased cough after exercise. It sounds as if Tony's is slowly resolving. I still get tickles after my many respiratory bouts. If he is able to run, then he is doing well. I am anxious about my pending back surgery, but as a friend of mine said, "you have been through worse." Haven't we all? I would like to report to you, in a few months, that I have joined the Tony runner's club. It must be very elite, because only we transplant survivors can be members. BTW, Phil Meeks, another transplant survivor sent me a t-shirt a few months ago that reads, "Transplant, the ultimate make-over." I love that shirt.
Relax about everything. I predict good things to come.
Cliff
Cliff - as usual - my voice of reason. I hope your back surgery is successful and you can join this elite running club, it's more than I can do with my bum knee and no ACL - I'm kind of an orthopedic mess too (years of competitive sports, meh)
I like the T- shirt Meeks sent! We should make one for spouses, w a disclaimer for our rapid aging. I actually got called grandma by a man the other day :/ not sure if it's just because I was moving slow after Izzy or if I've actually physically aged that much in these last two & half years! I about popped that guy in the nose.
Everyone-
Tony's labs are tomorrow at 11 am, please pray for great labs and for me not to have an anxiety attack while we wait that hour for his counts to come back, it happens almost every time we go, I've tried to get it under control and have really gotten much better, to where tony doesn't see it, but I still worry and get sick in the bathroom. I can't stop it completely though, no matter how much I try, pray, breathe etc...
Please know your family is ALWAYS in my prayers! Praying specifically for great counts and the end of that nagging cough.
Julie
Counts are in high/but still normal WBC 10.4 (ANC is 70%) so guessing/suggesting he's fighting an infection possibly (7.2 WBC last month)
Plates 240(up from 164), heme 13.6(down a bit from 14.2)
They swabbed his nose to test for virus and he gets 4 shots(vaccines today too) should have swab results later tonight or tomorrow
It was a 2 hour wait, I was certain I would throw up but I felt confident this morning after prayer
Thank you
Think of all of you often.

So good to hear it is a cold and that Tony's ANC is UP to the fight. ;0)
