Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
We also look forward to the last "bottom out" and the figures slowly rising back :)
Cross fingers for you that all goes well over the next couple of days :)
Hope you will be out of the hospital soon.
Be blessed,

Sorry to hear about the infection. I had my line taken out last week. I was thankful, one less site of Inge toon to worry about. Feel better.

Don't worry about that line infection. It got your doctors to take your line out, which is very liberating. When I left the hospital after my transplant, my line had been removed. I was thrilled to get it out.
Foreign bodies in the the body (like lines and catheters) are set-ups for infection. My guess is that you got a Staph epidermidis infection, which is due to a type of Staph that we all have on our bodies. It is generally only a problem when there is some type of line in one of your veins.
Everything sounds good, with the exception of this little glitch. I think glitches can be positive things, because they put the real triumphs into perspective. They certainly have for me. Enjoy the 4th.

Since Dec. 10, I have spent 69 days in the hospital out of 207 total days, about 33%. I always feel out of touch when I come home for a while, and by the time I feel comfortable with everything at work and home, it's time to go back into the hospital. I hope that's over and done with for good now. Permanent remission.
