Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Wondered how things were going, and if you had made any decisions on your treatment path?

Sorry to hear about the relapse, but your attitude is great and you have options. All good news in relative context.
Keep your chin up and let us know what your decision ended up being. You are in my prayers.

So great to see an update from you. I am sure it is somewhat of a relief to have a plan. Do you have a siblings match or unrelated donor?
Please keep us posted. You continue to be in my daily prayers.
Blessings

Again if you need anything I am close by, I work only a few miles from the hospital. Please don't hesitate to ask, even if it's just for some non hospital food or whatever.
Praying for the cure for you, please keep us updated as best you can.

I will be praying for your success in the clinical trial. Your attitude is great.

I've been hiding out at home, only going out for blood draws at the Cancer Center, and then in mask. Blood counts are slowly crashing. Possibly next week I will need transfusions. Walking up the stairs is an effort, causes my heart to start pounding--result of low counts, low platelets, low iron. I have about six different prescriptions to take, including lovenox, a blood thinner injection, but I don't take that if my platelets are as low as they are.
I go back to Ann Arbor on Wednesday for followup tests to see if the trial drug worked. Then again Tuesday of the following week to talk about bmt.
At this time the first time through I was still in the hospital, watching my counts crash for a couple weeks. I hope the crash ends soon.
Blessings
