Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Support Group

Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.

I made it to Day 100 with no infections or trips back to the hospital! Praise the Lord!! I'm doing really well except for some intestinal issues recently, so I"m currently taking Entecort and everything has resolved. I'm working on my strength, walking almost every day, and working on my arm strength with small weights. My vision is still quite blurry and attributed to the meds I'm taking. I also have skin that had darkened after transplant and is taking a while to "shed". I also have trouble with my memory but was told that would improve with time.

Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good and talking with my employer about coming back to work and working from home.

The 100 days went pretty fast actually. :-)

Yay!!!!! Every day forward is an improvement from here!!! You're a rock star! Are u still on Tacrolimus (Prograft) if do when will they taper you off

Thank guys. Yes, I'm still on Tacro. I'm not sure when they start tapering but they mentioned the 6 month mark.

Lora -- GREAT -- lots of success stories today. See if you can shed the meds one at time. I was on a bunch of them and nothing really happened as I tapered off of them. Of course make sure your med people know what you want to do -- I doubt they will mind. Might be something that is essential, so you cannot just be arbitrary.

Challenge your brain with some games -- I like free cell -- makes you think two or three steps ahead -- they make it for the iPhone -- check iTunes -- it is free. Has ads but they are no real problem. Anything like that to exercise your brain will help. I never quit working but my wife noticed my chemo brain -- it has been five years now and I think I am as recovered as I am going to be at 71.
