Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), also known as acute myeloid leukemia, is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells. Patients with AML usually present with symptoms such as fatigue, bleeding, infection, prompting medical attention. An abnormal blood test reading will then result in further testing in a hospital with a hematologist to determine AML.
Hi all! I've been lurking here since December, when my wife was diagnosed with flt3 aml. She's 33 and in relatively good health. Induction chemo put her in remission first round and she had 1 round of consolidation. She is currently on day -4 for her transplant. She has her first day of radiation today which she is not looking forward to.
I've done a lot of reading about life after bmt and I guess I'm asking how much different will it be after she has the transplant versus how it was before? I know she'll be tired and can't go outside without a mask for awhile but overall is it similar to life before or not at all?

They've put a new one in her left arm which they say should have less chance of getting infected.
Other then some swelling, not sure if it's an allergic reaction to something or what it is, she's doing very well.
