It sort of enhances a lot of what I knew about carbohydrates & sugars, having learned a lot when my daughter was on the ketogenic diet. More recently, my thyroid endo suggested that he has had patients claim some improvement resulting from low carb and/or gluten free diets.
Unfortunately, my love for a good piece of bread is superceded only by a dark chocolate covered apricot that is semi frozen! And, it is beginning to show in my blood sugar @ 105. Despite the Somatuline (whose side effects are getting a bit tiresome), my IGF-1 is 162.....comfortably in the normal range, but certainly not in the low or even middle of the range.
Without question, I eat too many (unhealthy) carbs. Perhaps a streamlining of them with a goal of losing just 5 pounds will help me to regain a better balance......**SIGH**
Does anyone else notice a correlation between carbs in the diet and symptoms?
Today is an awful day for me, which is not uncommon shortly after my injection. In fact, I was just going to hard boil some high quality eggs I purchased at Whole Foods to eat them for a quick breakfast. Then, my grazing habits might stabilize. Protein for breakfast really is a big help.
Perhaps we should start a thread where we try to do this then report our results, and even downfalls. It won't be scientific, and it will rely on us being honest with ourselves as well as with each other. But, it might help us to improve our quality of life.
Thoughts?
It would seem to me that my body would do that after a carb load at home too!! The nice thing would be to figure out how many grams we could eat without causing a problem.
I thought that it might be less tedious for everyone if I force myself to keep a journal record, then report on the thread the occasional correlations.
My hands have been killing me. It might be a bit less severe than before my latest shot, but they still hurt!! My knees ache a bit most days, and now my hip & left side. I actually think the latter is related to the Somatuline. IGF-1 is high end of normal pretty consistently, and OGTT last summer was okay from start to finish.
Maybe I need to succumb to a rheumatologist. Such a drag; felt so NORMAL after surgery for a few months.......
I ate Pad Thai and a cupcake on Friday night and woke up saturday feeling like I had been hit by a bus. I'm beginning to see a pattern...
